Health Informatics for HIMs
As a graduate of UIC’s Master of Science in Health Informatics, you can engage in the research, development, evaluation and implementation of health-related information technologies. Your HIM background can become an asset as you examine and optimize the technologies supporting the collection and dissemination of health care information. The following is just a small taste of the options that may be open to you as you move throughout your career. Job possibilities for our health informatics graduates include:
- Chief Information Officer
- Chief Privacy Officer
- Project manager
- Consultant
- Supplier/vendor-related positions, such as sales, marketing support, implementation, or product development
- Entrepreneurial opportunities with information technology start-up ventures
- Venture capital firms that focus on health care or IT businesses
- Other managerial and executive positions in health care
