Health Information Management Director
Specific responsibilities include partnering with clients to:
- Build and manage a large team to support on-site client HIM and coding operations.
- Develop service delivery strategy and model to support client operations.
- Review coding performance, documentation, and education.
- Develop, coordinate and manage implementation of policies and procedures that improve and support revenue cycle; organizational goals, and, timely, complete, and accurate coding business objectives.
- Initiate workflow improvements and standardization.
- Ensure accurate and timely coding of inpatient and outpatient records according to policies and procedures.
- Provide direction for all hospital and physician coding activities, audits, education and productivity standards to improve unbilled targets.
- Regulatory compliance.
- Ongoing accountability for the continuous assessment, improvement, and coordination of the coding department services.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Registered Health Information Technician/Administrator (RHIT/RHIA)
- 3 to 5 years experience as a Coding Manager or HIM Manager in a hospital or health system
- 2 to 3 years experience as HIM/Coding Director in a hospital or health system
- 3 to 5 years of coding experience in ICD-9-CM and CPT4 for inpatient and outpatient (including emergency department) records in a hospital or hospital system
- Knowledge of HIPAA, JCAHO and other compliance requirements, as well as ICD-9 and CPT 4 coding classification systems
- Currently residing or willing to relocate to corporate headquarters.
- Ability to travel up to 40%
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in business administration or a master’s degree in health or hospital administration is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated success as an innovative, strategically focused leader with strong organization, project management, team development and relationship building skills
