Here are examples of projects students work on in the Health Information Management program.
We have a lot of fun projects for these students. For example in management, they might do policies and procedures or job descriptions. In finance, they might do capital or operational budgets or cost justifications. In quality management, they’re actually going to take some data and look at quality indicators for quality of care, how it’s delivered for example. Then in technology, they might do things like designing flowcharts, [state-of-the-art 00:27] diagrams. They use project management software which is a very important skill to have.
We have been doing a variety of things and then at the end, they will be doing a practicum actually at a heath care organization site for 160 hours and that allows them to have hands-on experience which looks great on their resume than when you go out. Because they’re putting a lot of these skills [I've seen 00:52] to practice.
