Rosemary Walker was the very first student to receive the MS in Health Informatics from UIC; her research focus was HIPAA. Today, she is a Program Director for the Health Informatics program. Before coming to UIC, she earned a DDS and served in the military as a dental officer. She owned a private periodontics practice in Maryland and taught periodontics at the dental schools of Georgetown University, Howard University, University of Maryland and Marquette University. She also worked for the American Dental Association as the assistant director of information in the Division of Science. Dr. Walker's passion for learning motivated her to earn a certificate in leadership coaching from Georgetown University and a Master Online Teacher Certificate through the University of Illinois.

Dr. Walker has a master's degree in curriculum development/instruction from National University in San Diego, an MBA from Loyola College in Baltimore, a DDS from the University of Maryland, and a certificate in periodontology from Oregon Health Sciences University.
