Implement systems that improve patient care.

Patient care looks different today thanks to advancements in technology. The tools and platforms used to store, retrieve and evaluate electronic medical records have become more advanced, which means diagnoses and treatment are more accurate.

UIC’s online Master of Science in Health Informatics curriculum builds on your technical knowledge and incorporates clinical trends, government regulations and healthcare-specific management best practices. We’ll equip you with the analytical and managerial expertise to promote better outcomes and eliminate the chance for errors — one data point at a time.

We offer three degree paths: Master of Science in Health Informatics, Master of Science in Health Informatics – Health Data Science, and Post-Master’s Certificate in Health Informatics.

Our MSHI program can be completed in as few as 2 years, and our PMC HI can be completed in as few as 18 months. Each program teaches you to uncover ways to effectively and efficiently deliver information to doctors and nurses as they make data-informed, patient-focused decisions.

You can gain the skills to:

  • Improve patient outcomes by increasing treatment effectiveness and delivery efficiency
  • Develop, maintain and facilitate the use of various medical records systems
  • Interpret large amounts of data to support patient care decisions
