A recent survey from Intuit Health reveals that Americans are worried about their medical bills and that they expect their doctors to be accessible online, Healthcare IT News reports.
Analysts found that Americans are accustomed to paying their bills online and expect the same convenience in regards to connecting to their doctor’s office.
The study found that 70 percent said that they were concerned about managing their healthcare bills. However, nearly 66 percent believe that the costs will increase in the future, while 62 percent said their costs rose in 2010.
Patients “want some measure of control, convenience and better communication with their doctor,” Steve Malik, president and general manager of Intuit Health, told the news source. “Doctors who offer secure online solutions can meet this patient demand while increasing office efficiency and enhancing the doctor-patient relationship.”
Many healthcare providers are seeking individuals who have obtained a health information management degree to help implement an online doctor-patient connectivity system that could help physicians provide better care.
A 2008 report by the Bureau of Labor Statistics states that the number of new employment opportunities in the health information management field are expected to increase by 20 percent over the next seven years.
