Operational roles and information security backgrounds are easily transferable to the field of health informatics.
First thing that came to mind for me was more of the technical and operations’ roles but I don’t think that’s what attracts people to an informatics’ program. But for any of you that do have that that’s very easily transferable.
Another area that’s been popular for years and there is still a shortage of people, so a lot of people come in from other industries is the information security area. That’s one that requires a very distinct set of knowledge and skills and if you have that knowledge and skills you can pick up enough healthcare to apply that. If you have them both already you’re even in better shape.
